CBS previews new “S.W.A.T.” show on NSU campus

On October 11, NSU hosted a preview of the first episode of the new show S.W.A.T., which stars Shemar Moore. Moore starred in Criminal Minds as Derek Morgan. CBS will premier the S.W.A.T. episode on Thursday, November 2.

The show is based off of the original TV show S.W.A.T., which premiered in 1975. The show is roughly 45 minutes and follows the life of Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson who was tasked with leading a law enforcement unit in Los Angeles and tries to close the societal gap between law enforcement and where he was raised.

In this show, S.W.A.T. consists of a five person team who is Los Angeles’ last stop for law enforcement and has a rivalry against another S.W.A.T. team led by Mumford, who has a completely different approach than Daniel does.

“Someone persuaded me to come see it, (but I enjoyed) the amount of action scenes throughout the film,” said Bobby Price, business management major.

During one part of the episode, Daniel Harrelson gives the audience a glimpse into his childhood and explains why he decided to join law enforcement and students enjoyed that. His story left the audience wanting more and wondering what else has happened.

“I enjoyed the part…when he had that interesting conversation with the young man in the hospital about how he hated cops too,” sociology major Audrex Harris said. “Then he was told by his father if he didn’t like what was going on to do something about it, so he joined (law enforcement.)”

S.W.A.T. is one of the many shows that will be releasing this fall, but it’s also one that many will be tuning in for on November 2.
