“Norfolk State University fans are invited to join head football coach Latrell Scott and his coaching staff for a national signing day party at A.J. Gators Sports Bar and Grill in Norfolk on Wednesday, Feb. 3, from 6 – 8 p.m.,” the Norfolk State Athletics Department said in a recent statement.

Tyre Givers-Wilson and Jordan Crockett enrolled at NSU this spring 2016 semester. During his senior year at quarterback, Tyre Givers-Wilson was a FNV Athlete of the Week and a first team All-Conference player. Accounting for 24 touchdown passes, Givers-Wilson is also a dual threat quarterback rushing for seven touchdowns. The 6’3, 210 pound quarterback will join senior quarterback Greg Hankerson on the Spartans.

“It’ll be great learning the system from an experienced quarterback where I can perfect the offense,” Givers-Wilson said.
Two-time first-team all-state Group A selection at Fort Chiswell High, Jordan Crockett, is a 6’5 330 pound offensive linesman. Crockett is coming from Fork Union Military Academy where he was a starting right tackle.

Malik Butts, Bobby Price, Devon Watford and Kenneth Kirby are other freshmen football players expected to sign.
With a promising record last season, Spartan students are very excited to welcome our new upcoming freshmen football players.

“I’m excited to see Crockett bring a great deal of physicality to the field,” NSU student Briana Hudnall said. “Hopefully his strength and athleticism, along with the other offensive linemen, will help to bring forth a MEAC championship.”
