SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. (AP) — An investigation into a suspected hazing incident has resulted in the arrest of a Spotsylvania High School football player, and the sheriff’s department says other players are under investigation.
The 15-year-old player was arrested Friday in connection with the reported hazing of two players on Oct. 23 in the school locker room.
The Free Lance-Star (http://bit.ly/1j0OUrP) reports that the teenager was charged with attempted sodomy with an inanimate object and assault by mob and is being held in a detention center. The attempted sodomy charge is a felony.
Prosecutor Matt Lowery said the charge followed an investigation by school authorities and a school resource officer after a complaint about a broomstick assault.
Sheriff Roger Harris called the allegations “a very serious matter.”
