Woman convicted of killing former father-in-law

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (AP) — A jury deliberated for less than 30 minutes before convicting a woman of killing her former father-in-law in Christiansburg.

Media outlets report that a Montgomery County Circuit Court jury found 24-year-old Amanda Taylor guilty Thursday of murdering Charles Taylor. She was sentenced to life in prison.

Prosecutors said Amanda Taylor and her accomplice, 33-year-old Sean Ball, went to Charles Taylor’s house on April 4 with a knife and a crowbar. Investigators said Amanda Taylor admitted to stabbing Charles Taylor repeatedly.

She also faces federal charges after investigators say Ball was injured while the two were on the run.

Ball, who is also facing a murder charge, is awaiting trial.
