Woman charged after car hits trooper’s vehicle during chase

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — A Chesapeake woman faces multiple charges after a vehicle hit a state trooper’s car during a chase on Interstate 264.

Virginia State Police say the vehicle ran off the shoulder and struck a jersey wall after hitting the trooper’s car at a ramp.

The driver, 35-year-old Crystal Lynn Jones, was treated at a hospital for minor injuries and then taken to the Norfolk jail. The trooper wasn’t injured.

State police say the chase began after the trooper attempted to stop the vehicle for speeding at 3:55 a.m. Monday.

Charges against Jones include driving under the influence, speeding, felony elude and felony assault on a law enforcement officer.
