Va. man sentenced to 20 years in scheme to sell stolen guns

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — A Suffolk man has been sentenced to the maximum 20 years in prison in a scheme to sell stolen firearms.

Federal prosecutors say 30-year-old Direll Lamar Jackson was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Norfolk. Jackson pleaded guilty in January to possessing and concealing stolen firearms and being a felon in possession of firearms.

Court records show Jackson was part of a scheme to break into homes and cars in order to steal guns and sell them. Prosecutors say Jackson negotiated prices and arranged the sales, and a confidential informant bought 19 firearms from Jackson and his co-conspirators.

Two co-defendants are scheduled to be sentenced on May 14. Each faces up to 20 years in prison.
